Introducing the Unitarian Universalist Concentration

Starr King School for the Ministry is excited to announce the launch of our new Unitarian Universalist Concentration. The Unitarian Universalist Concentration is designed to prepare students for ministerial fellowship in the Unitarian Universalist Association.

As one of the two historic Unitarian Universalist seminaries, Starr King was founded to give our students both the intellectual and practical tools for ministry and service. In that spirit, this new concentration was created to guide students preparing for a career in Unitarian Universalist ministry in the 21st century through immersion in Unitarian Universalist identity subjects as well as contextual education and praxis. The required coursework in the concentration aligns with both the Ministerial Fellowship Committee’s areas of ministerial competence and Starr King’s core requirements for degree students. This includes courses in introductory and advanced counter-oppressive theologies and ministerial theories, as well as Unitarian Universalist identity and prophetic witness.

Directed by Rev. Dr. Meg Richardson, the Unitarian Universalist Concentration will officially launch in August 2023. The concentration is available to Starr King students in the Master of Divinity (MDiv) or Master of Arts in Social Change (MASC) programs without any application process. Students who are enrolled in the Chaplaincy Concentration may also enroll in the Unitarian Universalist Concentration.
