Dr. Rudolph P. Reyes II is a liberative scholar. Reyes’ research focuses on how theology and ethics affects intersecting forms of oppression from a liberative ethical perspective. His goal for students is for them to understand the importance of social location, develop a critical awareness of systems and structures of oppression, and formulate praxis.
Reyes scholarship intervenes on issues of collective liberation, specifically racial and disability justice. Currently, he is working on completing a manuscript on Latine neurodiversity from a liberative ethical perspective. He recently published on Latinx theologies in Emerging Theologies from the Global South (2023). Also, he is active in the American Academy of Religion (AAR), where he serves on the steering committee for the Religion and Disability Studies Unit.
Reyes lives in the Bay with his wife the Rev. Canon J. Sierra Reyes, an Episcopal priest.
