PROGRAMS &
DEGREES

Our goal is to provide students with a highly relevant theological education rooted in the Unitarian Universalist values. Starr King is a school with “permeable walls” offering students the options of online, residential, and immersion learning. Our programs are open to students of every faith and include a Master of Divinity, a Master of Arts in Social Change, the Joint Program for Interfaith Chaplaincy or Spiritual Direction, a Certificate in Multi-religious Studies, and a Certificate in Unitarian Universalist Studies. Our programs prepare students to serve our communities and the world in the unique ways in which they are called, whether it be as minsters, religious leaders, social justice activists, artists, chaplains, educators, or lay leaders of all kinds.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR
course work

Each person’s spiritual path is unique, and at Starr King each student’s course of study is individually designed. Students work with a faculty advisor who guides their learning process within a counter-oppressive and multi-religious framework. Students can attend as high or low residency students, full-time or part-time, or attend as a non-degree student and take individual courses. Additionally, as members of the Graduate Theological Union, our students can cross register at any of the eight member schools and 11 affiliate learning centers. Our student-focused educational model is designed to equip students to answer their unique calls to religious leadership.
