As the peaceful vigil progressed to different schools within the GTU, scholars of Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, and Christian faiths shared words of love, healing, and determination. Leaders spoke out against a perceived double standard in responses to high profile acts of violence. Others warned of the inherent danger in marginalizing groups of people based on faith. Starr King President Rosemary Bray-McNatt emphasized the importance of maintaining inter-faith dialogue and promoting common humanity in the face of hate. The evening concluded on an emotional note when members of Zaytuna College welcomed the participating community into their building and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the outpour of support.
Starr King School for the Ministry remains a committed ally to the Muslim community. Our hearts go out to them and all victims of discrimination, both here on “Holy Hill” and around the world.
