On Monday, October 16, 2017, the Rev. Kathleen McTigue (SKSM graduate, Honorary Degree Recipient, and Executive Director of the Unitarian Universalist College of Social Justice) presented a workshop entitled “Saying Yes & Saying No.”
When we consider all of the wrongs and injustices in the world around us, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed; it can be hard to know how best to channel our time and energy. We often try to do it all, and as a result our efforts end up being “a mile wide and an inch deep”. This workshop introduced a discernment process based on contemplative practice, as a way to listen for where we feel most called to say “yes” — and then to empower that affirmation by how we say “no”.
Starr King would like to extend a very special thanks to Kathleen for sharing her perspective on how we can counter oppression more effectively.
