The novel coronavirus pandemic, also known as COVID-19, has caused unparalleled difficulties to people all over the world. We have students who are serving as chaplains and student interns helping congregations move to online services. Others may be out of work and concerned about how this period of financial uncertainty will impact their ability to complete their degree.
As part of our preparedness plan at SKSM, we established the Starr King Emergency Relief Fund. This fund provides support to our students during disastrous events such as this. We are starting to accept applications for relief funds from those impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Starr King is uniquely positioned to continue our mission during this crisis. We have long been pioneers in the area of distance learning. But, we urgently need to assist our students at this time so that they can become the kind of religious leaders we will need in the COVID-19 recovery period.
But we need your help. Please consider making a gift so that our students can still follow their call despite these challenges. Your gift could provide a student with groceries to feed their family. It could help cover utility payments for those working remotely indefinitely. Or, it could help cover costs related to medical care for someone’s loved one.
We set a goal to raise $10,000 by May 5, 2020 in order to start providing financial assistance to our beloved community members as soon as possible. After exceeding our goal within the first two weeks, we increased it to $25,000. We have no exceeded our second goal! We have increased our goal to raise $50,000 by May 14, 2020.
Get to know our students. Watch this profile of Anthony Mtuaswa Johnson, SKSM class of 2018. We are here to help students like Anthony follow their call for religious leadership.
