Dear Beloveds,

The 2016 UUA General Assembly is right around the corner (June 22-26) and this year’s theme, “Heart Land: Where Faiths Connect,” resonates especially well with our multi-religious roots and vision. If you are in town please stop by our booth, pick up some goodies, and RSVP for our events! Can’t make it to Columbus? See what we are up to on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag ‪#‎UUAGA‬, and visit www.sksm.edu/GA2016 for more event information and updates.

This year Starr King has something for everyone at GA. Engage with us in our workshops and experience the depth and breadth of what we know and do at Starr King. This year, you can meet faculty, staff and graduates of the school discussing our historic multi-religious roots, ways to effectively organize for social change, and the connections between and practice of Unitarian Universalism and other religions.

Be sure to RSVP for the following Starr King events:

Prospective Students: Meet the President – Thursday & Saturday (June 23 & 25)
Do you know someone considering Unitarian Universalist ministry? We would love to meet them. Prospective students are invited to chat with SKSM President Rev. Rosemary Bray McNatt to learn more about Starr King’s academic opportunities.

Meet SKSM’s Admissions and Recruitment Director – Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (June 22-24)
The Rev. Jeremiah Kalendae will be at the Starr King booth providing additional information for those interested in Starr King’s educational programs and application process. Interested in Starr King but can’t make it to GA? Email Jeremiah at jkalendae@sksm.edu. Prospective students can also learn more about Starr King here.

Workshop: Faith-Rooted Organizing for Social Change – Thursday (June 23)
This interactive workshop, featuring Betty Jeanne Rueters-Ward, Amanda Weatherspoon and The Rev. Rosemary Bray McNatt, offers tools and best practices for faith-rooted organizing at the intersections of issues, identities, and religious traditions. Drawing lessons from younger-generation UU leaders in movements from Black Lives Matter to climate justice, participants will explore their own faith-rooted organizing style and opportunities to take action.

President’s Lecture: The Transient and the Permanent in Theological Education – Friday (June 24)
Don’t miss the 2016 Starr King President’s Lecture by The Rev. Rosemary Bray McNatt. Theological education has experienced the same disruptions as society as a whole. These disruptions, however, might be just the opportunity progressive religious leaders have been waiting for. How might we capitalize on cultural changes to support the formation of 21st century religious leaders – and what qualities are essential for us to maintain if we are to be faithful?

Break Bread With Us: Starr King Iftar Dinner – Friday (June 24)
Ramadan Mubarak! Are you or someone you know celebrating Ramadan at GA, but don’t have a place or community to break the fast with? We would like to extend a special invitation to Muslim members of our community for this joyous occasion.

Thank you for your interest in Starr King at GA. We look forward to connecting with you soon!

Faithfully,

Starr King School for the Ministry
