Welcome to The Rev. Sofia Betancourt

Sofia pulpitDear Ones:

I’m writing with wonderful news in the life of Starr King: the appointment of The Rev. Sofia Betancourt as the school’s Assistant Professor of Unitarian Universalist Theologies and Ethics.  Sofia has served with distinction on our adjunct faculty for seven years, teaching courses on preaching as well as womanist theoethics, mujerista and Latina feminist theologies, and anti-oppressive resources in ministry.  A rising star in the field of ecowomanism, Sofia will help to expand our educational offerings to bridge our counter-oppressive studies with the practical arts of ministry. To read her full bio and CV, please click here.

At this time of great joy for the school, I’d like to thank the other members of the search committee who served so ably: Rev. Dr. Gabriella Lettini (SKSM Dean of Faculty, Chair); Ted Fetter (SKSM Board of Trustees); Raphael Warner (SKSM Student Representative); Rev. Lindi Ramsden (Dean of Students); and Rev. Dr. Valerie Miles-Tribble (GTU Representative, American Baptist Seminary of the West).

Please join us in congratulating Sofia and welcoming her into this new and fruitful relationship with Starr King.  I couldn’t be more delighted!

Faithfully,

Rosemary
