Announcing the Candidates for New Assistant Professor

Dear members of the Starr King community:

This morning, on behalf of the search committee, I am pleased to announce our finalists for the position of Assistant Professor of Unitarian Universalist Theologies and Ethics. They are Rev. Colin Bossen, doctoral candidate at Harvard University, and Rev. Sofia Betancourt, doctoral candidate at Yale University. Both of these individuals impressed the committee with the seriousness of their scholarship and the depth of their commitment to Unitarian Universalism both as ministers and as theologians. We are grateful to present such highly-qualified persons to the community.

Please note the campus interviews schedule available here. Members of our community who live at a distance may participate in the public presentations via the FUZE cyber-conferencing application. Please note the contact information provided below. A separate email to students will include FUZE contact information for your question-and-answer sessions with each candidate.

Your evaluations of the candidates are requested and will be taken seriously by the search committee when we deliberate to select a nominee. Please remember that your evaluations do not constitute a “vote” but are welcome and important contributions to the discernment process. You may complete a paper feedback form onsite at Starr King and place it in the form-entry box at the reception desk. Or you may provide your feedback via SurveyMonkey by visiting the links for Sofia Betancourt and Colin Bossen. All evaluations for Rev. Betancourt are due by 10:00 am PT on Tuesday, March 29, and all evaluations for Rev. Bossen are due by 10:00 am PT on Wednesday, March 30.

Thank you for the trust you have placed in the search committee throughout this process. We are confident that we will conclude with the appointment of a scholar who will contribute to the mission and vision of Starr King for years to come.

Sincerely,

Dr. Gabriella Lettini
Dean of the Faculty
Chair of the UU Theologies and Ethics Faculty Search Committee
