Executive Assistant to the CEO of the Greater Boston Food Bank
Nancy Lawrence has worked in nonprofit administration for nearly 20 years.
Lawrence most notably served as the Administrative Assistant to the Executive Vice President and Board of Trustees for the Unitarian Universalist Association from 1996 to 2013. For 17 years, she communicated with more than 100 denominational leaders. She was responsible for various types of administrative work within the UUA, including project management for the Leadership Council, management of large events, board liaison to the Youth and Young Adult office tasked with coaching and mentoring under 30 constituency in preparation for leadership positions, co-convener of the Meditation Panel and the Staff Team for Anti-oppression, Anti-racism team, and groups dedicated to educating staff on issues of accessibility, oppression and privilege. Prior to this, Lawrence served as Administrative Assistant to the Director of Major Gifts and Development at the UUA.
More recently, Lawrence has served in project management roles at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Cambridge Friends School, and Combined Jewish Philanthropies, and as the Executive Assistant to the CEO of the Greater Boston Food Bank.
She is also a founding member of the UUA’s Allies for Racial Equality (ARE), an organization committed to unlearning white privilege/supremacy and to confronting racism in all its forms.
She earned both her M.A. in Intercultural Relations and her B.A. in Behavioral Science from Lesley College. Lawrence has also been trained in ESL and Conversational Spanish.
