Em is thrilled to join Starr King staff as the Admissions Coordinator. Originally from Long Island, New York, Em has lived in the Bay Area for almost five years. She earned her BA in English Literature and Religion from Wesleyan University in 2013 and moved to Berkeley to serve in the Lutheran Volunteer Corps. She soon after began her studies at Starr King, and hopes to graduate in May 2018 with her Master of Divinity. Em is pursuing ordination through the Unitarian Universalist Association and looks forward to joining All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma as their intern minister in August.
Em is passionate about supporting prospective students in their process. She feels it is a honor to accompany those who are discerning a call to spiritual leadership, in its many manifestations. Em is also passionate about yoga for healing, and is a proud provider with The Breathe Network, a nonprofit organization that connects sliding scale holistic healing arts providers with survivors of trauma. As a trained community organizer, she is interested in the interface between individual and collective healing and social justice. In her free time, she practices and teaches yoga, attempts overly-ambitious baking projects, and enjoys bad television.
