Dean of Students, Director of Contextual Education, Assistant Professor of Practical and Political Theologies
Chris came to Starr King in January 2015 after relocating to the Bay Area with his family. Before joining the seminary, he served as an associate pastor for six years in North Carolina. He is an ordained American Baptist minister. His academic research explores the intersections of congregationalist ecclesiology and participatory/radical democratic theory and practice.
An avid student of comparative theology and a wannabe contemplative, he is delighted to work in a multireligious environment. His other interests include amateur astronomy, permaculture gardening, and rereading Calvin & Hobbes on a regular basis. He lives in the East Bay with his wife and two children.
