President’s Report on Annual Fund Success

Dear Starr King Friends,

I am most grateful to report that – thanks to the generosity of our donors – our annual fund goal has been met.  We are optimistic about the future and enthusiastically focused on our four strategic goals.  Support for our new educational model has been remarkable!  In addition to the $1 million in cash from donors last year (including $375,000 from the Luce Foundation) we recently received the good news of a $100,000 annual fund challenge from long-time supporters of the school, Dave and Norma Lewis.  We will be inviting matching gifts to double this wonderful gift.  In addition, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock has awarded us a $100,000 grant and The Panel on Theological Education has granted us an additional $25,000 in response to the economic hard times.

We are looking forward to another year of impressive enrollment growth, and we are excited to welcome a large entering class (of thirty or more students) this fall – thanks to the efforts of our recruitment and marketing staff.  A growing student body brings joy along with an important challenge: a greater need for more financial aid gifts to support our students.  I am moved every year by the sacrifices people make to pursue a degree at Starr King School for the Ministry and dedicate themselves to liberal religious leadership.  I invite you to support their commitment by making a gift today to Starr King’s Financial Aid Fund.

In grace and gratitude,

Rebecca Parker
President and Professor of Theology
