Biography

Kali (Meera) Tanikella is a Ph.D. student at the Center for Dharma Studies at the Graduate Theological Union in the department of Historical and Cultural Studies of Religion. She has been a Koret Fellow and a current member of the Women’s Studies in Religion steering committee at the GTU. She is an adjunct faculty at the University of San Francisco, where she teaches graduate counseling psychology students at the School of Education. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of California with extensive experience in working with trauma. She has worked in eating disorder residential treatment facilities, and domestic violence shelters, with high-risk youth in Santa Clara county. She also works with adult clients in a private practice setting in Santa Clara. She is interested in researching a Hindu perspective on Social Justice, understanding the impacts of intergenerational colonial trauma, as well as focusing on Decoloniality studies with an emphasis on trauma resilience and post-traumatic growth in indigenous communities.
