Certificate in Multireligious Studies

Earn your graduate-level certificate in multi-religious studies entirely through low-residency study at Starr King School for the Ministry.

The Starr King Certificate in Multi-Religious Studies, directed by Dr. Ibrahim Farajajé, brings together historical, theological, and social interactions of the world’s many religions.

We offer a wide variety of online courses, and short-term intensives and immersions, taught by progressive religious leaders, scholars, and social activists. The certificate includes courses in introductory and advanced counter-oppressive theologies and social theories, interreligious histories, plural ethnic and religious geographies, and mult-religious spiritual practices, ritual arts, and education.

We designed this certificate for you!

  • Exploring the possibility of entering ministry?
  • Interested in faiths other than your own?
  • Lay person or leader?
  • Social activist seeking a religious or theological grounding for your work?

Complete your certificate through any combination of six courses (18 units) taken online and through short-term intensives offered in Berkeley. Register and pay for courses as you go. Note that we are in the process of making our certificate programs eligible for federal financial aid, as SKSM certificates are not currently eligible for federal financial aid. We are accepting applications to enroll in the program now!
