How to Register for a Starr King School Course
Please note: The following instructions apply to both residential and online courses.
Students enrolled in a degree program at Starr King School (or any other Graduate Theological Union school) should follow the registration processes outlined by their school’s registrar. Starr King’s processes are listed in the Starr King Student Handbook (password required to view).
Starr King registration periods are consistent with the Graduate Theological Union registration periods. See the academic calendar for important dates.
Early registration is strongly recommended as many classes have limited enrollment.
Steps to Register for a Course (for students not in a SKSM or GTU degree program):
- Determine if course requires a PIN to register. Check the course description on the course listing page for notation "PIN Required".
- If PIN is not required, skip to step 3. If PIN is required, submit a
Course PIN Request online form, which will be sent to the instructor. The PIN number you receive from the instructor will be needed for step 3 below. - Fill out and submit a SKSM Course Registration online form.
- Send your tuition payment:

Timelines for Registration
Early Registration for Spring 2012
November 7-18, 2011
- If PIN Required for course:
- First week of registration period: student requests PIN by submitting a Course PIN Request online form. PIN request must be submitted by Friday of the first week of registration.
- Second week of registration period: On Tuesday by 5 p.m, instructor notifies student whether they are accepted into class. If accepted, instructor provides PIN which must be entered on registration form.
- SKSM Course Registration form and payment are due by the last day of the registration period to the Registrar at Starr King School.
General Registration for Spring 2012
January 16-27 , 2012
- If PIN Required for course:
- First week of registration period: student requests PIN by submitting a Course PIN Request online form. PIN request must be submitted by Friday of the first week of registration.
- First week of registration period: student requests PIN by submitting a Course PIN Request online form. PIN request must be submitted by Friday of the first week of registration.
- Second week of registration period: On Tuesday by 5 p.m, instructor notifies student whether they are accepted into class. If accepted, instructor provides PIN which must be entered on registration form.
- SKSM Course Registration form and payment are due by the last day of the registration period to the Registrar at Starr King School in order for students to have access to course by first day of class. Please note that by necessity, this policy must remain firm. Entrance into courses occurs only upon receipt and processing of the fully-completed Registration form and payment.
Late Registration for Spring 2012
January 30 - February 10, 2012
As limited-enrollment courses close, the course listing on the website will be updated.
- If PIN Required for course:
- Student should request a PIN by submitting Course PIN Request online form as quickly as possible.
- Professor notifies student within 48 hours whether they are accepted into class. If accepted, instructor provides PIN which must be entered on registration form.
- SKSM Course Registration form and payment are due to the Registrar at Starr King School.
- Up to three (3) school ("business") days are required for registration processing before being granted access to the course.
Intersession 2012 Registration
Early registration is strongly advised for Intersession intensive courses.

General Registration for Intersession 2012 begins January 3, 2012. Students registered for Intersession only, who want to be able to register during general registration, please contact SKSM’s Registrar at registrar@sksm.edu who will assist in registering you.
