It is not our differences that divide us. it is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences.Audre Lorde
Welcome to the Starr King School for the Ministry!
I am Professor Gabriella Lettini, Dean of the Faculty, Director of the Master of Arts for Social Change degree program and Aurelia Reinhardt Professor of The@ological Ethics and I am Professor Ibrahim Farajajé, Provost and Profesor of Cultural Studies and Islamic Studies. Together, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the Starr King School for the Ministry.
Starr King School is committed to providing a holistic counter-opressive Unitarian Universalist and multireligious the@ological education that responds to the challenges of the era in which we live. Starr King is about preparing students to take their place in a world in dire need of regenerative communities and bodies.
At Starr King, you will find that the student-centered educational philosophies, practices and programs are well-represented throughout our degree programs. There is the Master of Divinity program, the Master of Arts in Social Change program, the GTU Common MA program, as well as the School’s Certificates in Unitarian Universalist Studies and Multireligious Studies.
Whether studying Unitarian Universalist polity at the UUA’s General Assembly or learning about Sufi culture in Turkey, working on refugee issues on the border in El Paso, Tx or regenerative food justice issues in Oakland, Ca, you will find that you are being invited to live in the differences.
No matter where you are , you will find your heart filled with the haunting words of Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi, “Come, come, whoever you are: wanderer, worshipper, lover of leaving, ours is no caravan of despair: Come, yet again, Come!”
